V Soorya, a 9-year-old girl from Malappuram, Kerala, India, required specialised treatment for a congenital heart condition and underwent ASD (Atrial Septal Defect) Closure with RUPV (Right Upper Pulmonary Vein) Rerouting.

In 2016, Soorya received her cardiac treatment at AIMS, Cochin. The procedure involved closing the abnormal opening between the upper chambers of the heart and redirecting the right upper pulmonary vein to support more normal blood flow through the heart. RUPV rerouting is a recognised part of surgery in certain ASD cases associated with abnormal pulmonary venous drainage.
