To accomplish the intended objectives, the study was conducted in the following phases:
- Reconnaissance of the drilling site to examine the general site conditions and to mark the proposed boring locations.
- Literature review on geologic faulting to identity the known fault zones, review of aerial photographs, and site reconnaissance.
- Drilling and sampling of soil samples to evaluate the subsurface soil and groundwater conditions.
- Perform laboratory tests on selected recovered soil samples to establish physical and engineering properties of subsurface soils.
- Compilation of field and laboratory test data for subsequent engineering analysis.
- Preparation of geotechnical engineering report presenting recommendations on the following:
- Construction site preparation recommendations.
- Estimation of potential soil movements associated with shrinking and swelling of soils.
- Recommendations on foundation types, depths, allowable bearing capacities, uplift capacities, and lateral pile capacity.
- Pavement section design and pavement subgrade preparation recommendation.
- Geologic fault design criteria recommendations
